On Thursday evening at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Bhuvaneshwar India entered the knockout rounds of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. The match was a thriller but the hosts couldn’t execute their game plan with that much precision and failed to earn a big margin victory.

But the win was good enough for them to go through and their efforts ensured 2nd place finish in Pool C. India opened the scoring through a penalty corner converted by Shamsher Singh in the 21st minute. Shamsher Singh received a rebound ball after it lands outside the shooting circle. His furious low shot slides through the near post as he advances into shooting range.

In the 32nd minute, Akashdeep Singh doubled India’s lead. He received the ball in midfield and charged down to the left channel to find Mandeep Singh, who does a one-two with Akashdeep, who continues the run and fire blasts into the far corner.

Furlong Gareth and Draper Jacob converted 2 Penalty corners and equalized the scoreline within 2 minutes.
