Everything we should know about Esports Championships in reference to Commonwealth Games 2022

All the video game ardent fans get ready and fasten your seat belts as the biggest sporting ecosystem in the form of Esports is all set to take off in the marquee event (Commonwealth Games) starting from July 28th, 2022 to August 8th, 2022. 

Esports will be included for the first time in this grand event and the pilot event will have the presence of different games which include- Dota 2 , & e-Football, and these events will simultaneously run with traditional sports.

Current President of Commonwealth Games Federation Dame Louise Martin is elated after the Esports championship has been included in the mega event. 

Let’s revise the important highlights of the history of video games in detail

“I am delighted that we are announcing the first Commonwealth Esports Championships and Commonwealth Esports Forum to take place in Birmingham this summer” 

“Esports has grown from strength to strength over the years in terms of popularity and participation, particularly  among young people we are looking to align new ways how we can align them with Commonwealth Esports movement”  He said. 

The much anticipated event will be jointly taken care by Commonwealth Games Federation and Global Esports Federation.

The latter’s president Chris Chan said ” We are happy to establish yet another first of World Esports Community and the inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championship is a direction in that regard. we are looking forward to welcome Esports community to Birmingham in August” . 

In the Commonwealth arena, open categories will be there along with one category for Women and India being the powerhouse in the Commonwealth Games will be taking part in two events which include Dota 2 and Rocket League after the players qualified due to their impressive performance at the South Asia regional qualifiers.
