EPL 2022/23 : Erling Haaland has a chance of meeting his idol on Saturday when Man City host Leicester City!

Manchester City’s Norwegian number 9 Erling Haaland has a chance of meeting one of his idols this weekend at the Etihad as the reigning Premier League champions welcome the Foxes from Leicester City. In the past Haaland had opened up about his admiration for Leicester City number 9 Jamie Vardy for one of his attribute.

As we all know, Haaland grew up in a footballing family with his father being a former representative of Manchester City and Leeds where Erling was actually born. He has mentioned the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero among others but according to the 21-year-old, Jamie Vardy is the best at what he does.

And by that Haaland means to say that Vardy is perhaps the best striker when it comes to getting behind the defenders when wingers or midfielders have the ball.

“Let’s take an example: the running in behind the centre-back when the No.10 has the ball. You maybe have the best in the world at that as Jamie Vardy, I’ve been looking a lot at him on exactly this.” – said Haaland.

Tomorrow, the Premier League and UCL top scorer will be able to get his first sight at Jamie Vardy but city as usual will be back in business. A win tomorrow for City will cut a 6 point gap to half after Arsenal were held 2-2 by Liverpool last week.

The Gunners and the Cityzens will meet this month and the match will decided the eventual winners. Guardiola and Co. have been in this situation many times before. In fact their PL triumph last season is a fresh example of what this team is capable of doing in the business end of the tournament.

It will be a very special season for City if they win the PL this season as it will be their 3rd title in a row, something that has been done only once before by Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. For Haaland too, it will be special as he is an X Factor for the Sky Blues grinding in the UEFA Champions League.

If City complete a Treble this season, will the Ballon D’or be awarded to Erling Haaland?
