Detroit Pistons’ guard Derrick Rose has made into the headlines for is hot-headed action during the game against New Orleans Pelicans which went overtime after the fourth quarter. Derrick Rose had plenty of reasons to be frustrated as his team has now lost 12 out of their last 15 matches. This all happened in the overtime loss they suffered as even after a dedicated 12 point fourth-quarter comeback in the game on Wednesday.
The incident took place when with just 37 seconds left in the overtime as the frustration got the better off him as he leaned on the table and flung the pen on the crowd stands in his team’s loss by 110-117. Rose appeared frustrated after Pelicans forward Nicolo Melli took a long jumper to make it 113-107 shortly after Rose committed a turnover. Rose led Detroit by scoring 23 points, eight assists and four rebounds in the game.

Seems like the pen was left by the Pistons’ assistant coach Sidney Lowe who had left his clipboard along with the pen down on the table, that got Rose the access to the pen.

Rose was served with a $25k fine after the match for his action, as the punishment was announced by the NBA executive Kiki VanDeWeghe. NBA authorities could release the uniform clipboards with the pens attached as it may make the league look bad with the players like Derrick Rose vulnerable to showing their frustration in the future. Meanwhile, Detroit Pistons are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 14-27 in the league and are struggling to win games in the current scenario.
