FIBA Asia Cup 2025: Indian Basketball Team Qualified for the Tournament after beating Bahrain

Indian Basketball is on rise really did we care? The answer is absolutely not as we are mad behind only one sport popular known as Cricket in other words Gentlemen’s game.

Indian Basketball team delivered their class in the recently concluded FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier where they dominated their group and stampede their authority against others.

The victory came against Bahrain, which was a hard fought where the score line was 81-77 at Khalifa Sports City on Saturday which ultimately guided them a place in FIBA Asia Cup.

The victory is a testament to India’s Basketball prowess as national team is ranked 81th place in retrospect to Bahrain 66th ranking where the former defeated later in last stages of the game by absorbing pressure pretty well as compare to later.

India finished at the Top spot in Group H where they dominated in most matches, even in the game against Iraq, where Indian team defeated team by 97-77.

India have qualified for FIBA Asia Cup for record 11th time and they would be looking to replicate the same performance in the Upcoming FIBA Asia Cup event which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from August 5th to 17th 2025.

There were six teams up for display competing in Qualification round, where they were divided into three teams each, India have already qualified from Group H as Top team and the match to be held between Iraq and Bahrain for second qualification spot on Sunday.

Harsh Dagar have been crisis men for India, in both encounters they have played against Baharin and Iraq, with his impeccable 28 points against the former opponent.

The other standout performers for India have been Kanwar Sandhu with 15 points, Pranav Prince and Muin Bin Hafeez complemented him with 11 points and 8 rebounds each.

Talking about the context of the match happened between India and Bahrain, where Harsh Dagar provided momentarily lead for his side due to which they were able to control game against Bahrain during most part of the game ahead of 4th quarter, India were substantially marching against Bahrain by 62-53.

Bahrain made sprited comeback in the last quarter, due to brilliance from Subah Azzam to take 77-75 advantage with 2 minutes remaining in the game.

But brilliant display from Arvind Krishnan with his remarkable clutch steal 3 points, brought India ahead of Bahrain as the scoreline became 78-77 with 1 minute 38 seconds remaining in the game.

Bahrain did have opportunity in the penultimate hour of the game but mistakes committed by their own teammates, with 11 seconds left for the flank for the game to finish.

Krishnan being clutch man for India capitalize it further with more free Kicks, to ensure India defeat Bahrain by 81-77 and secure a spot in FIBA Asia Cup.

The Victory is crucial for India, in both ways, as they haven’t only qualified for FIBA Asia Cup 2025 but subsequently qualify for FIBA World Cup Qualifier doing well in that tournament can cement their place in the Marquee event.
