5. Anitha Pauldurai(2 Gold Medal in FIBA Asian Championship):

On the list of Indian players who have ever played this game, Anitha Pauldurai is ranked fifth.

She is the only female player listed in this ranking, coming in at number five.

Since her 2001 debut, Tamil Nadu has been a vital member of the Indian women’s team.

As a shooting guard, she undoubtedly earned recognition for joining the Indian women’s basketball team, which led the Indian cagers in the FIBA Championship in China.

She served as India’s captain for the following eight years, competing in the FIBA Asia Cup in addition to the Asian and Commonwealth Games.

On the list of India’s greatest basketball players of all time, Satnam Singh is ranked fourth. Satnam is a top-tier star who came from a modest Punjabi village to be selected by the NBA (National Basketball Association).

“One in Billion” is the title of a Netflix documentary that was based on his life.

In 2010, Satnam made the most of the opportunities presented to him after winning a scholarship to attend the IMG Academy in Florida.

He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2015 NBA Draft.

He is now the only basketball player to be inducted into the NBA as a result of this accomplishment.

3. Amyjot Singh Gill (2 Gold Medal in FIBA Asian Championship & Played for two NBA D teams) :

Amjyot Singh Gill comes 3rd in the list of Indian basketball players of all time.

He made his international debut at the age of 18 years old in limited time, he went strength to strength to become one of the biggest names in Indian Basketball.

He played a prominent role in 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, where they etched victory against host China for the first time ever in the marquee event.

He must be credited along with Amrit Pal Singh to play outside India and inspired next generation of cricketer to take up this sport.

In 2016, he was also drafted in NBA  D Draft.

He certainly played for distinct franchise including the likes of Oklahome City Blue & Wisconsin Herd.

Gill has also featured in 3 by 3 basketball  match with Japanese side Hamamatsu.

2. Ajmer Singh(Played for India in 1980 Moscow Olympics & 22 Medals in Domestic tournaments):

Ajmer Singh comes 2nd in the list of Indian Basketball Players to ever play this sport.

He took legacy from Khushi Ram, to take up this sport.

Ajmer Singh born in Haryana, move to Kota Rajasthan during his early days in order to learn the nuances of Basketball so that his game can progress to next level.

Later he was picked by Rajasthan University and later donned Indian Railways jersey.

He competed for 22  National Championships- at a stretch with three distinct teams – Haryana, Rajasthan and Indian Railways and went on to win 8 Gold Medals.

Post retirement as player, he served Indian Railways.

He also represented India in 1980 Moscow Olympics which is till date Men in Blue only appearance in Marquee event.

1. Khushi Ram(Arjuna Awardee in 1967 & Captained India in Asian Basketball Championship in 1965) : 

Khushi Ram is the one Indian player who stands out among all the others who have participated in this fantastic game of basketball.

He was also known as the “Asian Scoring Machine.” He began playing basketball at the domestic level in 1952 after being born in the Haryana village of Jhamri.

Ram won the “Best Player Award” and led the Armed Forces to ten consecutive national medals thanks to his outstanding shooting abilities.

He was rewarded for his domestic performances by joining the Indian team, which he played a crucial role in from 1964 to 1972.

He captained the Indian squad that made its Asian Basketball Championship debut in 1965.

He was invited in 1970 as one of the top scorers was named the Most Valuable Player, and he used to play at the Power Guard position, where he scored the most goals.

In 1967, he received the Arjuna Award for his services, and his village in Haryana had a statue dedicated to him after his passing.
