BCB denies NOC to Mustafizur Rahman to participate in IPL 2020

Mustafizur Rahman

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has not allowed Mustafizur Rahman to participate in Indian Premier League 2020. The board has denied a no-objection certificate to the left-arm pacer as Bangladesh will tour Sri Lanka for an important series in that period and Mustafizur is likely to be a part of that tour.

As per the reports, Kolkata Knight Riders approached Mustafizur as their paceman Harry Gurney has opted out of IPL 2020. Mustafizur was thus called as a replacement.

BCB Cricket Operations chairman, Akram Khan has said that Mustafizur is an important part of Bangladesh bowling attack and thus won’t be allowed to play IPL this year.

He told the Dhaka-based bdnews24.com:

“There was an offer from the IPL but since we have a tour coming up, we didn’t give him the NOC. He is an important cricketer for us and this upcoming series is also important.”

Interestingly, the southpaw was also denied NOC in 2019.

Muztafizur Rahman made his debut in 2016 IPL where he took 17 wickets in 16 matches. However, his performances saw a dip in the years which followed. In 24 matches, the Bangladesh fast bowler has picked 24 wickets in 24 matches at an average of 28.54.
