The 16the edition of the Asia Cup, which is held every two years, is on the way to begin in September this year most probably in Pakistan. As there is not much time left for the Asian mega tournament, commentary and analysis have already begun.
The 15th edition of the Asia Cup, which took place in 2022 was lifted by the Sri Lankan team by defeating Pakistan by the margin of 23 runs in the final.
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be held this year will take place in Pakistan. Pakistan has made all preparations to host the Asia Cup.
There will be around 12 matches in the tournament with 1 final match. India is of course the favourite team in the Asia Cup with the 7 max titles to their name. Though Pakistan will avail itself of the home conditions and will give tough competition to other Asian teams.
Unlike the Inaugural season of the Asia Cup which took place in 1984 with only 3 teams – India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participating in it, this edition will include a total of 5 teams from different Asian countries.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will take part in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup.
India and Sri Lanka are the dominant teams with maximum trophies – 7 and 6 trophies respectively to their name. India is a table topper when it comes to the winners that dates back to 1984 whereas Sri Lanka seized the 2nd spot.
Although there was a lot of commentary that took place due to Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup this year. It will be interesting to see how the third most successful as well as the host team Pakistan performs in the Asia Cup.
Though India has been dominant since the Inaugural season, Pakistan has some favourable situations such as the home conditions as well as the strong squad.
