Asia Cup 2025: Shocking Omissions from India’s Squad ft Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to start soon, and India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025 has been announced. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar shared the list. However, the Asia Cup 2025 squad came with some big surprises. Several key players did not make it to the main team for Asia Cup 2025.

  1. Shreyas Iyer is one of the shocking omissions from India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025. He last played a T20I for India against Australia in 2023. After that, he was not in the main plans. But, in this year’s IPL, he scored 604 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 175. He also led his team to the final. Many thought he would return to the Asia Cup 2025 squad because of this good run. However, he missed out on a spot in India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025.
  2. Yashasvi Jaiswal is another notable omission from India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025. He was a strong choice for the opening spot. In fact, he was part of India’s last T20 World Cup-winning squad as a reserve opener. Additionally, Jaiswal had a strong IPL season. He finished as Rajasthan Royals’ highest run scorer with 559 runs at an average of 43.00 and a strike rate of 159.71. Despite this, he did not get selected for the main Asia Cup 2025 squad.
  3. Washington Sundar, the all-rounder, also missed out on India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025. He offers useful off-spin bowling. Recently, he did well in the Test series against England. This made his exclusion from the Asia Cup 2025 squad surprising.
  4. Prasidh Krishna is among the shocking omissions from India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025. He played in the Test series against England. Also, he won the Purple Cap in this year’s IPL with 25 wickets from 15 matches. But, he was left out of the main team for Asia Cup 2025.
  5. Mohammed Siraj is another big name missing from India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025. He helped India level the series against England. He played a key role in the final Test of that series. Furthermore, he took 16 wickets in this year’s IPL. However, he did not make it to the Asia Cup 2025 squad.
