AIFF all set to Host Asian Cup in 2031; Reports

Indian Football is in complete tatters, due to infrastructural problems, not identifying right talent from grassroot level making it lose its charm with time.

The perfect testament from above statement could be stated with an example “Where India being 125th ranked team in the world in comparison to Bangladesh 186th ranked team in the world where the match ended in a pulsating draw 0-0 which is clearly shocking from all point of view” 

The administration decision is often challenged at times, but the positive thing in hindsight would AIFF Roadmap to 2047 where they are bringing entire ecosystem, to ensure that India falls in the category of top teams in Asian Football.

However, talking about the latest development, All India Football Federation after withdrawing to host AFC Asian Cup 2027 but they are keenly interested  by notifying AFC in hosting 2031 edition.

Apart from India other six teams have shown interest in hosting Continental tournament which include- Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates  & Kyrgyzstan.

The Central Asia Countries and India if they get selected to host this masterpiece event for the first time.

The decision for selecting host will be taken in AFC Congress in 2026.

The All India Football Federation needs to look at grooming domestic structure pretty well and the current status of Indian football is scary as they need to recall Sunil Chhetri after India’s tumultuous performances in last 1 year is not upto the mark.

India post Chhetri prereturn couldn’t win single game in last 1 year post Chhetri arrival, they won first game against Malaysia followed by game against Bangladesh where they played for a draw.

India certainly needs to work on attack and defense also they need to work hard to keenly develop backup goalkeepers who could perform for India in case Regular Goalkeeper of Indian team including the likes of- Gurpreet Sindhu, Amrinder Singh and Vishal Kaith.

Indian Football infrastructure reforms is the need of an hour it will be interesting to see how they would fare in the Upcoming encounter.
