India captain Virat Kohli has been doing going through a purple patch across formats with an unprecedented consistency with his batting. However, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq thought Kohli is good but lucky as well. This is the second time in recent times that he has talked about Virat Kohli’s batting abilities.virat-kohli-captain-icc-odi

He is currently the number one ODI and Test batsman in the world. He is currently the highest run-scorer in T20Is. In ODIs, he has scored more than 11,000 runs with the help of 43 centuries while in Tests, he has scored more than 7,000 runs with the help of 27 centuries.

He has also scored 103 international fifties and is the only batsman with an average of more than 50 across formats. But despite all these feats, Abdul Razzaq believes that Kohli is lucky because of the support he gets from the BCCI.

“He is a fantastic player and there is no doubt about it. However, he is lucky as the BCCI supports him well and instills the confidence in him that any player needs to succeed. The respect he gets from his board is what probably inspires him to do well all the time and the results are there for all to see,” Abdul Razzaq said to PakPassion.net.

“I do believe that even in Pakistan we have players who could become better than Virat Kohli, but they are neglected by our system which is a tragedy. In Kohli’s case, he has taken that confidence shown in him by the board and using his talent, repaid them with his performances,” he further added.

Last year, Abdul Razzaq had said that although Virat Kohli is a consistent batsman, he cannot be placed in the same category as the legend Sachin Tendulkar. He backed his claim by citing that there is a lot of world-class players in modern-day cricket and also took a dig at Kohli’s achievements as well.
