Premier League club West Ham United on Friday announced that they have signed the defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek for a four-year contract for £19.1m.

Soucek had joined the side on loan in January but now he has agreed for a four-year deal with the Hammers.

“West Ham United are delighted to confirm the permanent arrival of Tomas Soucek from Slavia Prague on a four-year-contract,” the club said in a statement.

The 25-year-old has been impressive for the side this season and scored three goals for the side so far after the season resumption and also helped the side secure a place in next year’s Premier League.

“Soucek has been a really good fit for us,” club manager David Moyes said.

“He’s a terrific lad with very good physical capabilities and has scored some really important goals, against Chelsea, Newcastle and Watford. We’re glad he’s going to be a West Ham player for a good period to come.” Moyes added.

The Hammers immediately signed Soucek after the side’s draw against Manchester United this Wednesday. Soucek earned significant recognition during the 2018/19 campaign when he scored 18 goals for Slavia and he was declared the Czech First League Player of the Year.

Soucek will be available to play for the side in the last Premier League fixture against Aston Villa at London Stadium on Sunday.
