Watch : Rohit Sharma and Mark Boucher talk about Mumbai Indians' plans for IPL 2023!

5-time IPL Champions Mumbai Indians arranged a Pre-season press conference earlier today at Mumbai. Their Captain on all 5 triumphs, Rohit Sharma and Coach Mark Boucher attended the event and gave their honest takes on every question that was asked to them.

There has been a lot of news regarding Rohit Sharma’s absence in MI’s first few games in order to manager his workload and as advised by the BCCI, IPL franchises must tread all of the National team player with care and make them less prone to sustain any fresh injuries.

Due to a very heavy Cricket calendar, Workload management often remains just 2 words having no sense at all. It has costed Indian cricket a lot but BCCI are mindful of such things this year as they will hope Rohit Sharma and Co. win the WTC Final in their 2nd attempt alongside the ICC Cricket World cup 2023 at home soil.

Reports have suggested that Rohit will not be playing a few initial games and Surya Kumar Yadav will replace him as the Captain of MI. The Indian Captain was quick to involve Mark Boucher into the conversation when asked about his rumored unavailability.

“In terms of me resting, I think Mark (Boucher) will give you an answer to that.” In response, Boucher threw it back by asking – “Do you want to rest?” “In regards to resting Rohit, he is the captain. Hopefully he gets into some good sort of form and I hope he doesn’t want to rest. But yeah, we all adapt to different situations.

If I can get the best out of him as a captain and player, that will be great. If it means he wants to rest 1 or 2 games, then I will do that. Absolutely, no problem.” – Boucher concluded. For a fact, Rohit Sharma has been a tad more Injury prone in the last 2 years as he sustained Calf and hamstring injury in 2021 and 2020.

He was also COVID-19 positive when India faced England in a rescheduled Test at Edgbaston in December.
