Watch: Pakistan Captain Babar Azam back Virat Kohli in a recent interview

In a recent development, Pakistan Captain and opening batter, Babar Azam has backed former Indian captain Virat Kohli and offered support to his Indian counterpart. Back when Kohli was unable to put an end to his century drought, Azam had laid support to him via a twitter post which read – “This too shall pass.”

As we all know, Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are two of the world’s greatest batters ever and the duo are often compared to each other in terms of their Batting styles and they share a good rivalry on the field.

While the Pakistani batter is on top of the ICC ODI Rankings, Kohli’s struggling form saw him fall down to the 7th place. The Indian Batter after a major purple patch for almost 2 years, scored his first century for India against Afghanistan in September 2022.

After that particular innings, Kohli managed to score 3 full-centuries in the space of 1 month in ODIs against – Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka and New Zealand. The 33-year-old will now look to break his century drought in the longest format as the 2nd Test for the Border-gavaskar trophy starts in 2 days’ time.

But the focus is on Babar Azam who appeared in an interview with ICC Digital Insider Zainab Abbas and the batter revealed a lot of things. One of the things were how much respect he has for Virat Kohli.

“As a sportsperson, anyone can go through such a time. At that time I thought maybe if I tweet it might give someone help and confidence. See, as a player, you try to back every sportsman in a difficult time.”

“It is in difficult times when you get to know what you are thinking about others. At that time, I thought I should have done that and maybe something positive will come out of it. Something which can be a plus point.”
