The Apex governing body of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the latest changes in the Central contracts for all the Indian players. Ever since the news broke out, Social media has been buzzing with Tons of reactions and criticism towards the BCCI for their decision to promote and demote certain players.

In case you don’t know, BCCI contracts have been divided into 4 different categories according to the importance and performances of the players. The latest changes which has come into effect starts from October 2022 to September 2023 – a month before the 50-over World cup starts.

The 4 categories have been divided into Grade A+, Grade A, Grade B, and C. While some players registered massive gains, some players have been totally discarded. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma have been left out while Lefty all-rounders Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja received large hikes.

Jadeja has been promoted to Grade A+ category and joins Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah as the highest earners of the team while Axar Patel for his extra-ordinary form in the past 12 months have been awarded with a promotion to Grade A.

But right after the release of the player contract list, BCCI received a barrage of questions about the three players and their part in India’s World Cup strategy. Fans have questioned Jasprit Bumrah’s presence in the Grade A+ category as the 29-year-old has not played for India since September 2022.

The last time Bumrah played for India was back in 25th September 2022 in a T20I against Australia. In the red ball format, his last outing was in 1 July and 14th July was his last ODI outing. His unsolved back injury has been restricting him from playing for India and fans have criticized the BCCI for making him sit and earn Crores of money.
