Indian women’s team have surprised everyone with the kind of cricket they have played in the ongoing test series against Heather Knight women’s side in the latter backyard.

There is lot of positives to derive from Indian women’s team performance including 167 run first wicket partnership in first innings between young Shafali Verma and Swashbuckling Smriti Mandhana.

However Indian middle order failed to captilize the amazing start given by these two and bundled out on the meager total of 231 runs in response to 396 runs for the loss of nine wickets posted by English side.

Sneh Rana who was making debut for India was amazing with the ball and most importantly accurate with her variation as she took three wickets in the first innings.

Smriti Mandhana after looking at his team performance said that we need to play test matches on regular basis so that we can acclaimtize with the condition quickly as heading to this test which we are playing after almost seven years we are used to performing in the shorter formats.

She also blamed herself for India losing quick wickets in first innings as she was playing superbly throughout her innings and went for a rash shot which wasn’t expected from her as she needed to play an anchor role to make sure that India went past the score of England easily.

“I gave away my wicket though it was such a great ball . I am disappointed” she added.

At the end of third day play India still trail by 82 runs with nine wickets in hand. Verma is unbeaten on 55 runs joined by Deepti Sharma who is also batting in double digits.
