The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) appoints Ramesh Powar as the new head coach of the national women’s team.

As per the latest developments, 35 candidates applied for the job recently for the head coach out of those names eight-person were selected for a final round of interviews with Madan Lal who is a part of the CAC advisory committee.

Out of those eight candidates, four males selected were including the likes of WV Raman, former coach Ramesh Powar, ex-India players Ajay Ratra and Hrishikesh Kanitkarwere were interviewed on Wednesday.

The four female candidates Mamtha Maben, Devika Vaidya, former chairman of selector Hemlatha Kala were the ones who appeared for the final round of interviews.

It is now learned that CAC is likely to don Ramesh Powar the post of head coach for the national women’s team. The interesting thing to note here is that Powar’s last stint with the national side didn’t end on a positive note as he was involved in a heated argument with senior batter Mithali Raj.

The news related to the appointment of Ramesh Powar as the new head coach of the side was announced via press release by the world’s richest cricket board.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the appointment of Mr. Ramesh Powar as the Head Coach of Team India (Senior Women). It was under him that India qualified for the semi-final of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup in 2018 and also won 14 T20 matches in a row. He recently coached the Mumbai senior team that won the Vijay Hazare Trophy and has worked at the National Cricket Academy as a Bowling Coach,” the statement read.
