Teams who are considered as the dark horses in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup

ICC T20 World Cup has already started on 17^th October 2021 and India will be starting their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24^th, 2021 in Dubai.

England, India, West Indies, and Pakistan are considered favorites from two groups to reach the semifinal of the marquee event there are other teams like New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka who are considered as dark horses who can surprise any teams in the world. Let’s talk about these teams in detail.

1. New Zealand: A team that has recently won the ICC World Test Championship final against India under the leadership of Kane Williamson has to prove a lot when it comes to shorter formats and they have some quality players in their lineup which includes Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee who can posses any threat to world-class batting lineup. But their inability to win after reaching at the semifinal and finals of the ICC tournament when it comes to white-ball format makes them a huge dark horse in the marquee event.

Afghanistan: Many Experts and fans have hardly given any chance to Afghanistan in the mega event but the kind of spinners they have in their armories like  Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, and Mohammad Nabi is simply world-class players who have experience of playing in all the major T20 leagues all over the world and their experience can come handy for their national side and if their batting clicks then they can become equally dangerous for any side in the world.

  3. Sri Lanka: It is true that the current Sri Lankan team doesn’t possess many threats like they used to do till 2015. They are a completely new side at the moment under the leadership of Dasun Shanaka but one thing Sri Lanka has done pretty well is appointing Mahela Jayawardene as the consultant of the team who can share his valuable inputs with his players and his ability to win 5 IPL titles as coach of Mumbai Indians might come in handy for his team when it comes to Sri Lanka.
