Star Footballer Neymar Jr’s father arrested by Brazil authorities for an Environmental crime
Reports indicate that father of star footballer Neymar Jr who is a well-known figure in Brazil, was recently arrested for an alleged “environmental crime” related to unauthorized construction work on Neymar’s mansion in Mangaratiba. The apprehension was executed jointly by the authorities of Mangaratiba City Hall and the Civil Police.
The authorities received a complaint regarding the construction of an artificial lake on Neymar’s property, which was said to be in violation of environmental regulations, including deforestation, rock breaking, and diverting a river. The alleged actions were deemed to be in violation of several environmental laws, such as diverting water courses, unauthorized excavation, and moving stones and rocks.

Besides these family issues, Neymar is also facing challenges in his professional career. Since his record-breaking transfer to PSG for 222 million euros, he has faced criticism and has been unable to achieve the club’s ultimate goal of winning the UEFA Champions League.
The initial complaint regarding an environmental offense was lodged with Mangaratiba City Hall after Neymar Jr. posted a video on Instagram showcasing the construction of an artificial lake on his property. The lake in question is believed to contribute to deforestation, rock breaking, and the diversion of a river.
Upon investigation, several environmental violations resulting from the prohibited construction work were uncovered, including diverting water courses, extracting river water without authorization, extracting water for the artificial lake, unauthorized earthworks, excavation, and movement of stones and rocks.
Neymar Sr., the father of the famous footballer, was imposed with a substantial fine estimated to be around £822,000 (five million Brazilian reals) to account for the damages caused by the construction. In other news, Neymar Jr. recently made headlines by publicly apologizing to his pregnant girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the PSG player expressed his commitment to making their relationship work and acknowledged his mistakes.
