Recipients of the BCCI Awards announced

Every year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recognizes the best performances from Indian cricketers in the award function known as ‘Naman’. The recipient of this year’s awards has been announced, as some of India’s most prized assets are all set to get the recognition that they deserve from India’s cricket governing body. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been on fire in all three formats of the game, is all set to receive the Polly Ummigrar Trophy.

In the cricketing season of 2018-19, the master wicket-taker victimized 34 batters in just 6 Test matches. In the 17 ODI matches he played, Bumrah took as many as 31 wickets. One of the most prestigious cricketing awards of India, the Colonel C.K. Naidu award will be handed to Krishnamachari Srikkanth this year. Another former legend of the game, Dilip Doshi is all set to receive the BCCI Special Award.

For being the highest run-scorer in Test cricket in the 2018-19 season, India’s Test master Cheteshwar Pujara will get the Dilip Vengsarkar award. For his astonishing performances in his debut for the national side, Mayank Agarwal will get credited with the Best International Debut Award. The first-class performances will not go unnoticed, as Shivam Dube will get the Lala Amarnath award for his outstanding all-round performances in the Ranji Trophy.

As for the limited-overs version of the Lala Amarnath award, Nitish Rana will walk away with the award. Sikkim’s Milind Kumar will get the Madhavrao Scindia Award for being the highest run-scorer of Ranji Trophy. For being the highest wicket-taker of the same competition, the Madhavrao Scindia Award for the leading wicket-taker will go to Ashutosh Aman of Bihar. For being the best umpire in the domestic circuit last season, Virender Sharma will get the Best Umpire in Domestic Circuit Award.

Awards for female cricketers

Many women cricketers will be awarded for their valuable contribution to the national side in the last season. Jhulan Goswami will get the highest wicket-taker in the ODI cricket award, whereas Smriti Mandhana will get the highest run-scorer in the ODI cricket award. Former stalwart Anjum Chopra will receive the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award for women. Shefali Verma will get the Best International Debut – Women award.
