Ravichandran Ashwin replaces Axar Patel from India’s final CWC 2023 squad
Rohit Sharma’s men are all set to be without left-handed All-rounder Axar Patel during the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 next month. This is not a tactical or a pre-meditated change and in fact India were forced to make the decision and put Ravichandran Ashwin into the squad.
The Veteran Spinner will feature in what is going to be his 4th ODI world cup of his career. It happened because Axar Patel failed to recover in time from a left-quadricep injury he sustained during India’s final Asia Cup Super 4 match against Bangladesh.

Axar would have been making his first ever appearance in ICC Cricket World Cup this year but his fate unfortunately denied him from doing so. He has had a terrific couple of months with the Indian team, helping with the Ball as well as the Bat.
His performances are why BCCI selected him without much thinking and Axar had well and truly earned his spot before losing it. The Lanky All-rounder was also included in India’s squad for the 3rd ODI against Australia but a delay in Injury recovery is set to keep him out of action for at least 1 month.
India’s updated ICC CWC 2023 squad:
