The Jammu Express removed Dasun Shanaka in the 16th over last night to dethrone Jasprit Bumrah’s record of 153.36 kmph

Indian Speedster Umran Malik broke every previous record set by Indian bowlers after he dismissed Sri-Lankan batter Dasun Shanaka last night during their first T20 match at the Wankhede Stadium. He has overtaken Jasprit Bumrah’s record of 153.36 kmph to become the fastest bowler in India.

He has not only overtaken Jasprit Bumrah but he has also gone past Mohammad Shami and Navdeep Saini on the way. Shami is third on the list for clicking 153.3 while Saini’s 152.85 kmph is the fourth fastest ball by an Indian. Although, Bumrah will have the chance to regain his position at the top when he returns for the ODI series against Sri Lanka later this month.

Meanwhile, Umran Malik is back under the spotlight once again after he gave the marching orders to Dasun Shanaka. The Lankan captain was set at the crease and was just 5 runs away from his half-century but Malik’s 155 kmph beamer saw Shanaka hand the ball to Yuzvendra chahal in the covers.

The Jammu pacer did so after Shanaka sent his previous ball to the stands but Malik responded in the very next ball to dump Sri-Lanka’s hopes of chasing the total of 166. India were in desperate need of a breakthrough at Malik picked up the much needed wicket of the Lankan Skipper.

However, Sri-Lanka fought back at regular intervals and India’s victory was ensured in the last ball of the match. India successfully defended a low total of 163 and earned the Win by just 2 runs. Yes, that’s how close Sri-Lanka was to grab a famous victory at the Wankhede but Hardik Pandya’s men went against the momentum of the match to go 1-0 up in the 3 match T20I series.

Umran Malik ended the match with figures of 2/27 with a decent economy of 6.75. Sri Lanka had won the toss and asked India to bat first. Ishan Kishan and Shubhman Gill opened for the Blues but the latter was out after scoring just 7 runs. Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson also had a quiet day as the got out on scores of 7 and 5 respectively.

Ishan Kishan got dismissed at 37 with Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel amassing 29, 41 and 31 runs to put 162 on the board. In response Sri-Lanka reached as close as 160 runs with the second T20I schedule to take place tomorrow at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
