Rajasthan Royals fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of the team’s travel to UAE later this month.
This is also the first coronavirus cases in IPL 2020 even before the beginning of the season. The franchise confirmed the news about Dishan’s test and also issued a statement.
“Rajasthan Royals would like to inform that their fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has tested positive for COVID-19. The test was undertaken keeping in mind that the team members need to assemble in Mumbai next week for their flight to the UAE” the franchise said in a statement.
The entire team was due to meet in Mumbai before flying to UAE for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League but this news has plundered the original schedule of the side. Dishant himself took to his Twitter account to inform that he has been diagnosed with the virus.

The franchise also requested every staff and player to quarantine themselves in case they came in the close proximity with Dishant in the last few days. Later, they also confirmed that no Rajasthan Royals players have come in contact with him in the last 10 days.
“We request everyone who has been in close proximity to Dishant in the past 10 days to self isolate and get tested for COVID-19.”
“We can confirm that no Rajasthan Royals or other IPL players have been in close proximity to Dishant in the past 10 days. We wish Dishant a speedy recovery and look forward to him joining the Royals camp soon in the UAE.” the statement said.
Dishant was a part of the side as a player between 2011-2014 and played a total of 27 matches. He was later roped in as the fielding coach of the franchise. Besides, he is also the fielding coach of the Puducherry for the 2020-21 season.
