Rajasthan Royals excited to get Yashasvi Jaiswal for IPL 2020

Rajasthan Royals, the winners of the inaugural season of the IPL, pulled a coup when they managed to buy young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal for the upcoming edition of the tournament. The Under-19 star player has been in tremendous form lately and will have a huge role to play in India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign that begins from January 17.

The Royals have been unable to leave much of a mark in the IPL in the last few editions and had a number of spots to fill as they headed into the IPL auctions last month. They managed to procure the services of Jaiswal along with David Miller and Robin Uthappa, and the franchise is excited at the new recruits that they got on board.

The Royals COO Jake Lush McCrum told Times of India that they were particularly thrilled to get Jaiswal into the team, as he was someone they were eyeing for almost a year. Jaiswal bagged the Player of the Series award in the recent series against South Africa.

“We wanted to buy Jaiswal last year. He performed incredibly well in our trial, however, he hadn’t played a state match so he couldn’t enter the auction. We are delighted to secure him now and believe he is an exceptional talent. He is a quality left-handed batsman who can also bowl leg-spin and is so brave with his shot selection. We think he’ll learn an incredible amount from the senior players and also add a lot of value to this franchise,” RR COO Jake Lush McCrum told TOI.

With Steven Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Miller, Jofra Archer along with Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag already in their ranks, the franchise looks a force to reckon with and can be expected to spring a few surprises. They had Ajinkya Rahane in 2019 as well but traded him to Delhi Capitals.
