Quinton de Kock, the South African wicket-keeper batsman, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the T20Is. During a recent T20 World Cup 2024 match against the West Indies, de Kock became the first wicket-keeper in history to reach 100 dismissals in the T20I format. This puts him in a league of his own, surpassing legendary wicket-keepers like MS Dhoni and Jos Buttler.
A dismissal in cricket happens when a batsman gets out. As a wicket-keeper, de Kock plays a crucial role behind the stumps, catching batsmen who nick the ball. He can also cause dismissals through stumpings, where he quickly removes the bails with the gloves while the batsman is out of his crease. Quinton De Kock achieved this milestone in just 90 T20I matches, showcasing his consistency and ability to influence the game behind the wickets. Out of these 100 dismissals, an impressive 82 were catches, showcasing his sharp reflexes and ability to grab onto flying balls. The remaining 18 dismissals came through stumpings, where he capitalized on batsmen stepping out of their crease for a split second.

With a significant lead of 21 dismissals over the next active player (Buttler), de Kock is likely to hold onto the top spot for quite some time.
