PSL 2020: Karachi Kings Coach Wasim Akram dedicates the maiden title victory to late Dean Jones

Former Pakistani Legendary bowler and current Karachi Kings coach Wasim Akram dedicates maiden PSL title victory to late Dean Jones. As they defeated Lahore Qalandars by five wickets in the finals where Babar Azam played a superb knock of 63 runs to make sure that Karachi crosses the line in a scintillating final who was also adjudged as the player of the tournament.

Dean Jones was appointed as the coach of Karachi Kings in March 2020 and under his guidance team booked the playoffs spot but the last stage of the tournament was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Jones who was also associated with IPL 2020 commentary panel in India suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 59 in a hotel in Mumbai.

The ICC shared a video of Akram where he said: ” Karachi Kings(the Champions). This win is for Dean Jones and the fans for Karachi Kings”. Azam who has been the top performer for Kings in this edition where he scored 473 runs in the tournament including three players of the match awards. He also received the award for best batsman of PSL 2020.

Pakistan Super League is one of the prominent T20 League in the world which was founded on 9th September 2015 with five teams initially and later increasing the tally to six teams where every team play against each other in round-robin format and the league is operated by Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB). Wasim Akram who is currently serving as the coach of Karachi Kings in absence of Dean Jones was signed up along with Ramiz Raza as Brand ambassadors when the league started in 2015.
