PS5 Surpasses 40 Million Units Sold, Almost Twice as Many as Xbox Series X|S
Sony has sent out 40 million PS5 units, way more than Xbox Series X and Series S. The PlayStation sold twice as much as Xbox. After having problems with not enough consoles to buy, Sony says they are now available again.

Just so you know, by September 2022, 25 million PS5s were sold. In the past year, it sold really well. Now it’s one of the most popular gaming systems ever.
Apart from selling a lot, the PS5 now has a big collection of more than 2,500 games, including big and small ones. Some recent popular games are Final Fantasy XVI, Diablo IV, and Street Fighter 6.

A report from VGChartz shows that Xbox sales are not as good as Sony’s, but they’re better than the previous Xbox generation. In the first half of 2023, Xbox sold around 1.64 million units, which is a big improvement and more people are buying it compared to the previous version.
But Sony is doing even better. They sold over three million consoles in the same time, which is a lot more than Xbox. The PlayStation 5 is selling really well, almost as much as the Nintendo Switch did a couple of years ago when it was really popular.
Right now, people think Xbox Series X and Series S together sold around 20 million units, maybe even closer to 25 million. Just to give you an idea, Xbox One sold around 50.5 million until now. So, these new Xbox models are doing better.
On the other hand, the PS5 has some work to do to catch up to the older PS4. Worldwide, the PS4 sold over 117 million units. Because the PS5 had problems making enough consoles in the first two years, it might be tough for it to sell more than the PS4 before they bring out the next PlayStation, maybe called PlayStation 6.
