Former Indian cricketer and Delhi Capitals player Gautam Gambhir feels that coach Ricky Ponting third stint as coach for Delhi will work this time for sure.
Delhi Capitals will be looking to clinch their first trophy this year especially after reaching playoffs in 2019 under the guidance of Ricky Ponting.
“Any team can win the tournament I feel. Mumbai I feel is favourite but all teams are equally balanced and I hope Delhi will do better in the coming days of the tournament, ” Gambhir told ANI.
“Delhi has not won tournament till now so Delhi people will also love to see thier team and it’s 3rd year of Ricky Ponting with the team so he should deliver this time. I hope Shreyas Iyer and his combination will take Delhi to heights, ” he added.
He further stressed that the tournament will be successful as players are following the health protocols created by BCCI and also issued by UAE government despite few names who were tested positive for novel coronavirus.
As the fans all over the world would be waiting for today’s match where Chennai Super Kings will lock horns against Mumbai Indians. Where the ace batsman thinks Mumbai has an upper hand over Chennai with the depth in their batting and bowling lineup.
“Mumbai is definitely a strong side with their depth and we will have to see how they start as they never start on a winning note but if they do they are really favourites” Gambhir said.
Delhi Capitals with likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Kagiso Rabada will play their first match against Kings X1 Punjab on 20th September.
