Lionel Messi scores a stunning Free-kick to help Miami beat Cruz Azul in extra time on debut

Reigning FIFA World Cup winning Captain Lionel Messi has not wasted any time to score his first goal for new club Inter Miami. The 36-year-old found the back the net in 93 minutes of a 2-minute added time during a Leagues Cup tie against Cruz Azul. Whoever paid $440 to see Messi play were eventually jaw-dropped with every spectator in the Awe of the Legend.

MLS has been a destination for big names but the league never really had a player of this stature. A Current World Champion and a 7-time Ballon D’or winner. David Beckham made a dream come true and he was visibly in tears as if he watched Jesus gracing DRV PNK Stadium.

He came on as a substitute in the 53rd minute and even saw his side conceding a goal (65′) which was an equalizer to Robert Taylor’s 44th minute strike. Towards the extra minutes of extra time (2), Inter Miami won a free kick just outside of the box in his trademark area.

Lionel Messi stopped and stared before launching towards the top-left corner beating opposing Keeper Gudino. His team mates lifted him and hugged him as Messi ran to the corner of the stadium. Inter Miami’s home ground were in utter Jubilation while head coach Gerardo Martino broke out a smiled in a feeling of obvious pride.

Starting off his Inter Miami spell in this wondrous manner, expectations on Lionel Messi for landing a sliverware has increased even more. And David Beckham knows Messi can’t do it alone. That’s why he has already brought Sergio Busquets and is in line for possible arrivals of Jordi Alba, Andres Iniesta and Luis Suarez.
