Irfan Pathan Backs This Indian Great To Be DC's Head Coach Next Season, if Ponting Steps Down!

Given the terrible season Delhi Capitals had in the Indian Premier League 2023, changes are inevitable. Speculations of Ricky Ponting stepping down as the team’s head coach are rampant as the David Warner-led team remains at the bottom of the standings. Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, already has someone in mind to replace Ponting if that occurs. In a discussion, Pathan proposed that Ponting should be replaced by Sourav Ganguly, who is currently on the franchise’s supporting staff.

Pathan believes that Ganguly is the best candidate to lead the Capitals since he is familiar with the “psychology” of the Indian players on the squad.

“It’s a major issue that Sourav Ganguly is in the Delhi dugout. I believe Dada can significantly improve this squad if given the opportunity to coach as well. Dada is familiar with the psychological makeup of Indian athletes. Delhi should surely make use of the fact that he understands how to operate the changing room. It would not be incorrect to see Ganguly in a different capacity given that Warner stated at the time of the toss that his squad has begun preparation for the upcoming season,” remarked Pathan on Star Sports.

DC has not been at their best this season. Rishabh Pant’s injury prevented him from leading the squad, thus David Warner took over. However, the Australian opener struggled to make the most of himself as well as his colleagues.
