IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony: Arijit Singh, Varun Dhawan & Others to Perform at the Eden Garden
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is just a day away from kick off, featuring a grand opening ceremony at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22.
The 18th edition will be a class apart from the previous seasons as for the first time unlike earlier, the organizing committee will host opening ceremonies across all 13 marked venues, making it a season-long celebration. The glittering opening night will be a true spectacle to watch, as the audiences will witness grandness at its best.
In India, IPL is not just about cricket; it is also famously known for its glamourous and entertainment-packed content as we often get to see popular stars cheering from the stands, some filmy proposals and mega-rich team owners bring on the charm every time they attend a match.
The opening night this time will have powerhouse biggies from Bollywood perform and set the stage on fire with their electrifying performances –from Shreyas Ghoshal, Karan Aujla, Arijit Singh to Shraddha Kapoor, Disha Patani and Varun Dhawan confirmed to enthrall the audiences.
Following the opening ceremony, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener. Interestingly, both teams have new captains this year – Ajinkya Rahane will lead KKR, while Rajat Patidar will take charge of RCB.
Ten teams will go head-to-head to claim their hands on the coveted trophy and emerge as winners of the world’s biggest cricket league.
The IPL 2025 opening ceremony will commence from 6 pm IST on March 22. The city of joy Kolkata is hosting an IPL opening ceremony for the first time since 2015 and as per IPL official rules, as of now the final will also be hosted at the same venue on May 25.
With a mix of music, dance, laser show and performances showcasing the culture of West Bengal, CM Mamta Banerjee, ICC Chairman Jay Shah, BCCI President Roger Binny along with other dignitaries are expected to be present at the much-awaited extravagant night.
With a Captains Meet held on March 20 at the BCCI Headquarters, and a long list of rules and regulations released ahead of the season, this year IPL 2025 only gets bigger, better and more boisterous.
The cricket carnival of India will stream live on Jio Hotstar and Star Sports channels in Hindi, English and regional languages from Saturday, as cricket fans worldwide will brace themselves to cheer for their favourite players in this two-month long festival.
