IPL 2025: As Expected Ajinkya Rahane is new Captain for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Upcoming Season
The Indian Premier League Season 18 is all set to start from March 22nd between Defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders who will square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Defending Champions KKR have appointed Ajinkya Rahane as new leader of the franchise in the Upcoming season.
Venkatesh Iyer have been appointed as new vice captain for the team.
Many Cricket Fans were expecting Rinku Singh’s name for leadership role based on information coming from close sources stated “Rinku would have succumbed under pressure couldn’t have taken players responsibility pretty well “.
Rahane had an astounding record in Captaincy, be it winning Border Gavaskar on Australian Soil.
Rahane have so far played 6 matches for India where they successfully won 4 matches and 2 matches went for draw.
Rahane in the latest interview released on KKR platform stated ” Its an honor to successfully lead one of the most successful franchise in IPL and our squad is formidible. I would look forward to taking help from each and every individual and making sure they are all in better headspace so that we can place formidible team on the table”.
His captaincy stint in IPL is not pretty new, as he successful led Rajasthan Royals in the past.
He also captained Mumbai squad in Syed Mustaq Ali T20 Tournament where he had a stellar season with the bat.
In his Younger days he played as an opener for Rajasthan Royals where he gave impressive start in few encounter.
He has also led Mumbai in Ranji Trophy match, where he guided them towards victory.
They have recently launched new jersey which is again in Purple and Gold and some lightweight in color with three stars under their emblem.
My Perspective:
If you closely observe their combination, they needed an experience players in their arsenal in order to lead youngster, considering all permutations and combinations, Ajinkya Rahane is the best choice for Captaincy.
Rahane has wealth of experience, and he would be handy when it comes to rotating strike, and bowling rotations will be key.
Kolkata Knight Riders are certainly one of the most decorated franchise in IPL, where they have bagged marquee event for record 3 times in their career which include the year 2012, 2016 and 2024 respectively.
Kolkata Knight Riders under the coaching regime of- Chandrakant Pandit would be looking to relinquish their dominance again in the Upcoming edition of IPL.
