IPL 2023 : Irfan Pathan slams David Warner for his slow strike rate! Asks everyone to shift their focus away from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli!

IPL 2023 Irfan Pathan slams David Warner for his slow strike rate! Asks everyone to shift their focus away from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli!

David Warner leads the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 run scoring by a significant margin with totals of 56, 37, 65, and 51. His 209 runs also qualify him for the Orange Cap competition, which is given to the IPL player who scores the most runs. Do his runs actually benefit DC, though?

It doesn’t seem to be the case as the squad dropped to the bottom of the IPL 2023 points standings after suffering their fourth consecutive loss of the season. The actual issue here is Warner’s strike rate of 114. The DC skipper hasn’t been able to pick up speed at any time throughout the game, despite collecting three half-centuries in four games and batting in the middle for more than 15 overs on three occasions.

Warner batted even against MI till the 19th over, but he only managed to hit six boundaries and score at a miserable strike rate of 108. The outcome was instructive because despite Axar Patel’s heroic 54 off 25 balls, DC was still able to keep going and post a large total.

Irfan Pathan, a former Indian all-rounder, thinks that despite the discussion surrounding the strike rates of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma as well as Sharma’s performance, Warner’s strike rate has not received enough attention. Irfan questioned Warner’s batting strategy on Twitter after DC lost to five-time winners MI in another nail-biting match on Wednesday.

His Tweet drew in a lot of attention as fans started comparing him with the likes of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli who are also known for having a relatively slower strike rate. And it is true that David Warner has been Delhi’s best player but his contribution has not helped the team enough.

Meanwhile in the match, Mumbai Indians secured their first victory of the season whereas Delhi Capitals are still in search of their first win of the season.
