The Indian team will be led by Hardik Pandya, whereas the West Indian team will be captained by Rovman Powell. Below, we take a look at the top three Indian players to watch out for in the five-match series against the West Indies.
Tilak Varma
Tilak Varma has finally received his long-awaited India call-up, despite being in agonizing form in domestic cricket and the IPL. Tilak’s performance in the last two IPL seasons has been outstanding. This batter has shown a lot of tenacity and calmness on the field during difficult moments and has developed as a calm player.
He has a good ball striking and a game where he may strike from ball 1. Tilak Varma fits India’s new T20 style, and his IPL strike rate of 144 makes him a clear candidate for T20 Internationals.
Arshdeep Singh
The left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will be one of the most difficult questions put against the West Indies batters in this upcoming series against India. Arshdeep has collected 41 wickets in 26 T20Is for India.
He is the most experienced player in the squad and will be in charge of the bowling group on this tour. Arshdeep’s swing bowling early in the game and his deadly yorkers in the final overs would have to be avoided by West Indian batters.
Umran Malik
Umran Malik had previous opportunities for Team India in this format but did not perform well and struggled for wickets. Umran Malik had a disappointing IPL season this year as well.
He has now been chosen for this tour and will have another opportunity to exhibit his skills at the highest tier of cricket. If he can control the flow of runs while maintaining his speed and accuracy, he may be agony for the Windies batters in this series.
