Indian Cricket’s broadcasters Star India suffers a Massive loss of 200 Crores

Star India demands a discount of 130 Crores for Media rights after the blunder

In a recent bizarre development, the Broadcasters of Indian Cricket – Star India and Disney+ Hotstar suffered a massive loss of 200 Crores during the T20I series between India and Sri Lanka. Every media and broadcasting right for India’s domestic matches have been acquired by Star India and after the tragic loss, they have demanded for a discount of 130 Crores.

Another major blow that the BCCI might suffer is that Byjus are looking to opting out from being the sponsors of the Indian jersey. They are asking for an estimated sum of 140 Crores INR from the BCCI to respect the current contract.

BCCI’s hierarchy discussed on the two issues for more than an hour during a meeting held earlier today. Last June, Byju’s extended their current deal with BCCI until November for a fee of USD 35 Million. However, the deal suffered a setback when Byju’s eventually stated that they are no longer interested to continue as the Jersey sponsors but BCCI insisted the Edtech kingpin to continue till 2023 March at least.

In the meantime, Star India in 2018 paid a whopping amount of 6183 Crores for the Blues’ International and domestic broadcasting rights till 2023 have now asked for a discount of 130 Crores.

Who will be the next broadcasters of Indian Cricket? Let us know.
