India’s preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 cannot get any better as they have started 2023 in the best way possible. It all started with the Whitewashing of Sri-Lanka by 3-0 and now India have doubled their lead in the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand.

If the victory in the 1st ODI was slightly marginal then the 2nd ODI would be the total opposite. The hosts embarrassed the visitors in the first inning as they were bowled out for just 108 runs. India’s bowling line-up was breathing fire and they took full advantage of the conditions at the Shaheed Veer Singh Stadium.

Electing to bat first was a good decision by Skipper Rohit Sharma as his bowlers were able to respect his decision. Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar all picked wickets and gave the batters a very little work to do while chasing.
For his impactful 3️⃣-wicket haul in the first innings, @MdShami11 bagged the Player of the Match award as #TeamIndia won the second #INDvNZ ODI by eight wickets 👏👏

In response, Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill handled the matter for most of the time with the former getting to his 2nd half-century of the year before Henry Shipley struck his pads. Virat Kohli added 9 more runs while Gill scored the winning shot to reach 40 runs and also handed India the series victory.
