Former BCCI Selector makes huge prediction on Shubhman Gill

Shubhman Gill

After the young player’s outstanding performance against New Zealand in the ODIs, former India selector Saba Karim was all praise for Shubman Gill and claimed that he can continue the legacy of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. With 360 runs, Gill and Pakistan’s Babar Azam tied for the most runs scored in a three-match series at the end of the series. Karim recently stated that Gill has a skill that hasn’t been seen in a while and that he can become the “backbone” of the Indian batting order.

The disposition is favourable. He can continue the legacy started by Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. The conditions abroad are the biggest test. When Gill played Test matches in England, the field wasn’t so great. We hope he develops into the Indian batting lineup’s mainstay. It has been a while since we have seen such a talent. We’ll need to monitor his future performance against challenging opposition. Although the start has been amazing, we must test him against challenging circumstances and strong pace bowlers,” Karim said.

The double century he scored in the just finished series greatly aided Gill’s chances of making the ODI selection. Karim commended him for the maturity he displayed on the field and predicted that he will improve as a player in the future.

Shubman Gill‘s batting is characterised by a variety of factors. With the bat, he exudes maturity. When I refer to maturity, I mean being able to understand the game, play varied shots against bowlers, concentrate on shot selection, know how to operate the scoreboard, and when necessary, complement the partner.
