Rajasthan Royals spend a huge whopping amount of Rs 16.25 crore on South African cricketer Chris Morris who failed to deliver so far in the ongoing season of IPL 2021.
Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has opined that he would have never spent that amount on SA all-rounder.
The only game that he has performed so far for Rajasthan based franchise was the clash against Delhi Capitals with the bat where he finished the game with unbeaten 36 runs and is yet to have a good day with the ball.
In the last game that he has played against RCB where he went for 38 runs in his three overs as the opposition chased 178 runs without losing a wicket.
The former England cricketer said that Morris is certainly feeling the pressure of the huge price tag for which he has brought by Royals.
“This is going to sound harsh, but he went for a lot more money than I would have ever paid for, to be completely honest. I just don’t think that he’s worth that kind of number. I think there’s pressure on him. He’s not a first choice for the South African side,” Pietersen said while talking to Star Sports.
He added that high expectations from Morris will put more pressure on him and the experienced all rounder will fail to deliver on a consistent basis.
“I think we’re expecting too much. There’s too much talk about him.
“I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that’s going to consistently deliver. I mean this with the greatest deal of respect. There’s nothing special about what he does, and if he does run-in, he’ll run in for two games. And then he’ll go missing for a few games and it’s not the kind of thing that you should be seeing. He has the attributes,” Pietersen further added.
