Big upset ahead of the T20 World Cup! Indian player helped USA to beat Bangladesh
Bangladesh team is on a tour of the USA in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024. In this tour, a three-match T20 series between the two started from Tuesday, 21st May. However, Bangladesh suffered an upset in the very first match.
The USA team won by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the series against Bangladesh. The hero of USA’s victory was Harmeet Singh, a member of the Indian team that won the 2012 Under-19 World Cup, who scored unbeaten 33 runs in 13 balls and became the player of the match.
Bangladesh’s leading batsman failed to play big innings
Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh scored 153/6 in 20 overs. During this period, the maximum runs for the team came from the bat of Tauheed Hriday, who scored 58 runs in 47 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.
Whereas, the experienced Mahmudullah contributed 31 runs in 22 balls. However, Liton Das (14), Soumya Sarkar (20), captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (3) and Shakib Al Hasan (6) could not play big innings.
For this reason the team could not score as per expectations. Steven Taylor took a maximum of two wickets for the USA. At the same time, Saurabh Netrawalkar, Ali Khan and Jessie Singh got one success each.

Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh shined
Chasing the target of 154, USA got the first blow in the fourth over and captain Monank Patel remained at the score of 27 after scoring 12 runs. Andreas Gaus returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs in 18 balls and Steven Taylor returned after scoring 28 runs in 29 balls. Two more wickets fell, taking the score to 94/5.
It seemed that the Bangladesh team would be successful in making a comeback but from here, Harmeet Singh along with Corey Anderson gave his team a historic victory in the last over with the help of an unbeaten partnership of 62 runs in 28 balls. Anderson scored unbeaten 34 runs in 25 balls. Whereas, Harmeet faced 13 balls in his unbeaten inning of 33 runs. His innings also included two fours and three sixes.
