Best catches in the IPL 2024 season

The importance of fielding cannot be underlined in T20 cricket because the game moves so fast and the value of each run and wicket is huge. In the recently concluded IPL 2024 season, we saw some phenomenal fielding from sensational fielders such as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Tristan Stubbs, Faf du Plessis, and others. Let us reminisce about the five best catches taken in the tournament this year.

Faf du Plessis

In the virtual knockout match against CSK, RCB captain Faf du Plessis took a one-handed stunner to dismiss Mitchell Santner and hand CSK another wicket. It was a phenomenal acrobatic effort from the South African, as he showed everyone why the cricketers from South Africa are the best fielders in the world. Even at the age of 39, du Plessis took probably the best catch of the tournament.

Ramandeep Singh

There are players who drop sitters in the field, but Ramandeep Singh took a blinder while running backwards from the point to dismiss Arshin Kulkarni. It was a fantastic catch from the 25-year-old cricketer, who won the best catch of the tournament award as well for his effort.

Rovman Powell

When it mattered the most, Rovman Powell took one of the catches of the tournament to dismiss the RCB skipper in the eliminator match. As Faf du Plessis looked set to unleash himself on the pitch, he mistimed a delivery from Trent Boult as Powell took an out-of-this-world catch diving forward to take a very important wicket for the Rajasthan Royals.

Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi took a brilliant catch off his own bowling to dismiss Kane Williamson when Gujarat were chasing a below-par target against the LSG. This catch and the wicket of Williamson built the momentum for LSG as they managed to defend the total and beat the Gujarat Titans.

Matheesha Pathirana

As David Warner tried to reverse-sweep Mustafizur Rahman, Matheesha Pathirana broke all his efforts with a spectacular catch. He jumped and took a one-handed blinder to dismiss Warner, who was looking all set for a big score. The catch evoked a lot of praise for the Sri Lankan youngster.
