Mohammed Shami gives a major update on his comeback, Check here
India’s experienced and ace fast bowler Mohammed Shami has given a big update regarding his return to the Indian team. In the last few weeks, many reports had come out, in which it was said that Mohammed Shami can make a comeback in the Test series against New Zealand next month. However, Shami believes that until he is completely fit, he will not be thinking of making a comeback.
Mohammed Shami has been out of the Indian cricket team since he got injured in the ODI World Cup 2023 last year. Shami faced difficulties due to an ankle injury and had to undergo surgery. Mohammed Shami has recently started practicing bowling in the nets but BCCI has not given any update regarding his return.

Mohammed Shami said, “I am trying to make a comeback as soon as possible.” Because I know I’m away for a long time. But I also want to make sure that there is no doubt in my mind when I come back. The stronger I come back, the better off I am and the less likely I am to get injured again. So it doesn’t matter whether I return for Bangladesh, New Zealand or Australia series or not. I have already started bowling. But like I said, I don’t want to take any risks. Unless I feel 100 per cent fit, I will not agree to a comeback, no matter what the format or who the opponent is. If I have to play a domestic match, I will play that too.β
In some videos shared on Instagram, Mohammed Shami is seen bowling low pace with short run-ups as part of his RTP routine (return to play) at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The priority of the Indian team management is to keep the country’s top three fast bowlers (Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj) fit for the five Test matches to be held in Australia. Shami has taken 229 wickets in 64 test matches so far. During this career, he has also taken six 5-wicket hauls.
Shami can play in either of Bengal’s first two Ranji matches against Uttar Pradesh on October 11 and Bihar on October 18. There is only a two-day gap between these two matches, so there is little possibility that he will be a part of both matches.
