England defeated Australia by 3 wickets in the second T20 match with the help of all-round performance from Liam Livingstone. With this win, England have tied the 3-match series 1–1. Australia batted first and scored 193 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, meanwhile, England chased the target in just 19 overs.
Liam Livingstone, the hero of England’s victory, first took two wickets with his fantastic bowling, followed by explosive batting. Livingstone smashed 87 runs in 47 balls. During his inning, he towered 5 sixes and 6 fours. For his impressive performance, Livingstone was awarded the Player of the Match.

England chose to bowl first
After winning the toss, England decided to bowl first. Travis Head once again looked aggressive but was dismissed on 31 runs in 14 balls. Matthew Short contributed 28 runs. Jake Frazer McGurk, who was out of the first match, made a great comeback and hit a half-century. McGurk scored 50 runs in 31 balls. Josh English played an explosive innings of 42 runs in 26 balls. Stoinis (2) and Tim David (1) flopped in this match. Cameron Green (13 runs) and Aaron Hardie (20 runs) led Australia to 193. Livingstone bowled brilliantly for England and scalped 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.

Liam Livingstone won it for England with a bang
England’s team, chasing a mammoth target, started well with Phil Salt’s 23-ball innings of 39 runs (2 fours, 3 sixes). Will Jacks (12) and Jordan Cox (0) didn’t contribute much. Then England saw a great partnership between Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethel. There was a 90-run partnership in 47 balls between the two batsmen.
Liam Livingstone scored 87 runs (6 fours, 5 sixes) in 47 balls and Jacob Bethel scored 44 runs (4 fours, 3 sixes) in 24 balls. Sam Curran could only score one run, while Brydon Carse could not even open an account. Jamie Overton was unbeaten scoring 4 runs and Adil Rashid one run. Matthew Short bowled brilliantly for Australia. Matthew Short scalped 5 wickets for 22 runs in 3 overs, but he didn’t get the support of other bowlers.
Notably, the series’ third and final T20 match will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday, 15 September. After the T20 series, England and Australia will also battle it out in 5-match ODI series.
