Watch: Ricky Ponting fuming as English fan threw grapes at him during 5th Ashes test
In a bizarre development yesterday after Stumps on Day 1 of the 5th Ashes Test at Oval, former Aussie captain Ricky Ponting was infuriating on an English fan who threw grapes towards him. Ponting was carrying out his post match media duties with Sky Sports and that was when the incident took place.
The hosts after seeing Australia retain the Ashes Urn in the 4th Test at Manchester due to intangible weather conditions, scored 283 in their 1st Innings. England batted first after losing the toss with Harry Brook scoring the only 50 for the Three Lions. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett departed for 22 and 41 with Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood other notable innings of 34, 36 and 28.

Australian bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc, cleaned up England by the 55th over and scored 61 runs on Stumps at Day for the loss of David Warner. The visitors will aim to conclude Ashes 2023 on a high and stop England from equalling the series by 2-2 despite reatining the Urn already.
With a lot more action yet to unfold, the Day ended with an uncanny event, featuring Ricky Ponting. In one of the viral clips, Ponting was speaking through with Sky Sports host and Todd Murphy before a fan from the stands “Pelted” the Aussie legend with Grapes.
“I’ve been hit by a grape. I wouldn’t mind finding out who that actually was.” – Ponting said on-air.
Fans on social media criticized the behaviour by English fans, saying that it shows how much Australians have really irritated them this Ashes. “England and there fans lost that yesterday first when ducket refused to walk knowing dall well he had gloved it then there fans when they threw grapes at ponting.” – a fan wrote on Twitter.
