Virat Kohli static at 2nd spot in latest ICC Test batsman ranking

Indian star Batsman, Virat Kohli retains his 2nd spot in the latest ICC Test rankings, revealed on Monday. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are the other two Indian batsmen who made in the list of top 10 batsmen in the latest rankings as the former is at the eighth spot with 766 points, while the latter is at the tenth spot with 726 points respectively.

With 886 points, Virat Kohli falls behind Australian Batting giant, Steve Smith, who is currently at 911 points. Among others, Babar Azam is back at a career-best fifth position, which he had attained in February 2020.

He has seen high in his ranking due to consistent batting performance in England as he scored 68 and 47 runs respectively in an innings during the first two test matches.

Other Pakistani Batsman, Abid Ali and Mohammad Rizwan join Babar in the list by securing 49th and 75th spot respectively after scoring half-centuries in recently concluded two-match Test series against England.

Taking about the Bowlers rankings, two stalwarts for England, James Anderson and Stuart Broad who complemented each other on the field with their amazing bowling performance have seen high in their rankings as the Broad reached at the second spot in the bowlers’ rankings after a fine display of 4/56 against Pakistan.

Indian spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah reached at the ninth spot in the longest format of the game along with Ravindra Jadeja who successfully retained his third spot in the bowlers’ rankings.

Every Test playing nation wants to earn a victory against the opponent as they are competing againsst each other for World Test Championship where India is at the top with 360 points, followed by Australia and England with 296 and 279 points
respectively.
