Here is the list of the leading wicket-takers in the 50-over world cup and the so-called Bowling Maestros.

1. Glenn McGrath 

Australian legendary fast bowler nicknamed the Pigeon is known for his accuracy in line and length while bowling. Glenn McGrath is one of the best fast bowlers ever produced by Australia. He is the leading wicket-taker in the history of 50 over world cup. McGrath made his ODI world cup debut in the year 1996 and picked up 6 wickets. He led his team to world cup glory with his bowling prowess in the years 1999,2003 and 2007.  In the 1999 World Cup, he picked up 18 wickets and followed it up with another impressive World Cup run by picking up 21 wickets in the 2003 world cup. His best performance came in the 2007 50-over World Cup where he picked up a record 26 wickets in the tournament.

2. Muttiah Muralidaran 

Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralidaran stands 2nd on the list picking up 68 wickets in
40 matches averaging 19.63 and bowling at an economy of 3.88. Muralidaran made his ODI World Cup debut in the year 1996. The year Sri Lanka won their first ODI World Cup trophy under the leadership of Arjuna Ranatunga. In the years to come Muralidaran got better.  He was unplayable at times on turning tracks. He had a great run in the 2003 ODI world cup picking up 17 wickets in 10 matches.

3. Lasith Malinga

Another Sri Lankan legendary fast bowler with a slingy action tops the list of leading wicket-
takers in the ODI World Cup. Malinga picked up 56 wickets in 29 matches averaging 22.87
maintaining an economy of 5.51. In his first-ever ODI World Cup in the year 2007, Malinga registered a hat trick against South Africa. In his first world cup appearance he picked up 18 wickets in 8 matches. In the 2011 world cup, he picked up 13 wickets. He followed it up with 12 wickets in 7 matches in the 2015 edition. In his last-ever ODI world cup, Malinga picked up 13 wickets.
