The Minister also underlined one more change of focus which is highly significant. He called for more to go a step further than viewing sport as a way to fight drugs. But he urged people to approach sports as a way of making money and therefore viable career option.

Although football enjoys a lot of attention, hockey was not forgotten completely. The Minister realized that hockey is one of the most popular games which holds a likelihood of making it to the Olympics. This raises the possibility of further funding and backing for other manifestations of hockey in the future.
The ground is proposed to be utilized for Mizoram level camps, which explains its suitability to act as a training venue for budding athletes. Thus, the Minister also urged the people of the surrounding villages to use the facility carefully, calling for community participation.
Information on the background of the project was given by Pu K Laldawngliana, MLA. Astroturf has been demanding this particular renovation for a while now even when the previous government was in power, through the Astroturf Demand Committee. He thanked Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla for understanding the need for the project and implementing it finally.
Everything said during the ceremony reflected on clean and well-preserved appearance of the renovated facilities. The latter encouraged the participants to own the ground and the calls of cleanliness were prevalent. This can encompass the ground, the shed, and its vicinities.
Fantastically, the synthetic grass system measures 105 meters in length by 64 meters in width in proportion to the actual playing dimension of 100 meters in length by 60 meters in width. The constructed pavilion with the two-storied structure provides extra space for players and officials if needed.
For constructing a field, the following works were done: The RCC structure slab was extended 9 meters to expand the overall field area while the retaining wall was also extended. Also, there was construction of a durable fence covered with PVC-coated chain-link with a gallery included. To promote sufficient water drainage, the field has a method of pumping and draining the excess water as well as keeping external water out.
The new look of the MSSC Kawnpui Football Ground proclaims the new hope in the sports development of Mizoram. Being specially designed for football and hockey with a possibility of other sports, this hall can become a training ground for future stars.
