‘Raheem Sterling has taken his game to another level’: Gareth Southgate

England manager, Gareth Southgate heaped praise on Raheem Sterling with the way he is playing from last few years. He has developed several skills under his belt and he uses them depending on the context of the game.

His hunger to score, his hunger to win things, his hunger to drive himself , you really can’t underestimate it. It has massive impact on everybody around him and really has taken his game to another level” Goal.com quoted Southgate as saying.

I can’t speak highly enough of him really.It would have been very easy to have another few days on the beach , not report in, get himself right fir the club at the beginning of the season. His mentality the whole week has been exceptional ” He added.

In the ongoing Nations League match, England recently defeated Iceland by 1-0. The major credit of that victory was given to Raheem Sterling as he was the only player who scored the goal during the entire match and he sealed the victory for his country after converting a penalty corner into a superb goal in 91st minute due to his individual brilliance.

Sterling made his senior debut for England national team in 2012 after successfully representing his country at Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 level respectively.

He received several awards for his brilliant performances in 2018-19 season including PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA footballer of the year award.
