Mohammad Amir Eye to Play in the IPL 2026

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has said he hopes to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026. He believes he will be eligible to play then. Notably, Pakistani players are banned from playing in the IPL post 2009 season. So, how can Amir play in IPL 2026?

“By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL, and if given the chance, then why not? I will play in the IPL,” Mohammad Amir said on the show “Haarna Mana Hai.”

Amir’s wife, Narjis, is a citizen of the United Kingdom. Amir is hoping to get a UK passport. Getting a UK passport would allow him to play in the IPL.

The show’s host, Tabish Hashmi, asked Amir what his reaction would be if he were criticized in Pakistan for playing in the IPL. Amir, who has retired from international cricket, responded without naming anyone. He said, “Pakistani cricketers were banned in the IPL, but our former cricketers were doing commentary and were also coaches of the franchise.”

Amir was referring to former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, who coached the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Ramiz Raja, who did commentary.

Amir Shows Respect for Virat Kohli

Amir talked about his respect for Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. He said he cherishes the bat that Kohli gave him before the Twenty20 World Cup match in Kolkata in 2016. “Virat is great and admires talent,” said Amir. “Virat gifted me his bat, and I was overwhelmed by his action. I have always been a great admirer of his batting, and he is of my bowling. I played some good knocks with his bat.”

Ahmed Shehzad, another guest on the show, said that Amir could change RCB’s fortunes and help them win their first IPL title. “RCB need a bowler like Amir to fix their bowling problems,” Shehzad said. “They have a good batting team, but their bowling has always been a problem. If Amir plays for RCB, they will win the title.”

Currently, Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the IPL. However, Amir aims to get a UK passport because his wife is a UK citizen.
