Now, at the halfway point in the Premier League campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s men sit a mighty 13 points clear in the top flight, and not many people will be backing against the red half of the Merseyside right now.

Liverpool’s sheer dominance has become something of a normality this season. They have won 17 of their 18 Premier League matches, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Their record at Anfield is even more spectacular – they haven’t lost a league game there since April 2017 and they haven’t even dropped a point in their last 16 matches.

Wolves have been renowned for their giant killings ever since their return to the top flight last season, and they managed to pull off another one on Friday as they came from 2-0 down to beat the 10-men of Manchester City 3-2 at Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have now lost just one of their last 14 top flight games, although even for them this trip to Anfield could prove a step too far. Wolves may be upsetters of the odds, but Liverpool are at a completely different level right now.

That being said, the visitors do have a chance to give Liverpool’s defence a run for their money. Wolves have scored in each of their last 18 Premier League matches, and they’re facing a Liverpool side that aren’t quite as defensively sound as they were last term. The hosts have conceded in eight of their nine home league games this season, only managing a shutout against the lowest scorers in the league (Watford).

Wolves are brave on the ball and Adama Traore at the moment is unreal. They must have been working behind the scenes with him – if they get the final ball right they have got a real player. He is a speed merchant, but when you are a forward, you are concentrating on finishing, but have to adapt the delivery. Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota are decent, combined with a clever midfield to counterattack.

It will be more of a test than what Leicester was. Liverpool are just gliding along, Mohamed Salah been slightly off, and they haven’t been so glamorous to watch. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have dipped at times, yet Mane has been the best player of the season alongside Kevin De Bruyne. You always have the danger of the front three and the Liverpool midfield is strong too.
