India is one of the most successful nations in Equestrian sports with a long and rich history in the Asian Games. India has won a total of 12 Medals in the Equestrian sports, including 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze,

The first Indian equestrian to win a medal at the Asian Games was Raghubir Singh, who won a Gold medal in Individual eventing at the 1982 Games in New Delhi. It was the same year when India hosted the Asian Games and bagged a gold medal in equestrian sports.

India has produced a number of skilled players in Equestrian sports who got India a number of medals in all three categories. Some of the most successful equestrians at the Asian Games for India are as follows.

Gold medals:
Raghuveer Singh – Individual eventing (1982)
Raghuveer Singh, Ghulam Mohammed Khan, Bishal Singh, Milkha Singh – Team eventing (1982)
Rupinder Singh Brar – Individual tent pegging (1982)
Silver medals:
Ghulam Mohammed Khan – Individual eventing (1982)
Fouaad Mirza – Individual eventing (2018)
Rakesh Kumar, Ashish Malik, Jitender Singh, Fouaad Mirza – Team eventing – 2018
Bronze medals:
Jitendarjit Singh Ahluwalia, Ghulam Mohammed Khan, Raghubir Singh – Team dressage (1986)
Prahlad Singh – Individual jumping (1982)

He has won two silver medals, in individual eventing at the 2018 Games in Jakarta–Palembang and team eventing at the 2022 Games in Hangzhou. Mirza is also the first Indian equestrian to qualify for the Olympics, and he is set to compete in the eventing competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
